Dry Needling

What is Dry Needling Therapy

In dry needling, specific acupuncture points are utilized based on the presence of myofascial tissue crossover, which promotes a more effective healing response. Trigger points within the muscles are targeted during dry needling, and an electro-machine is sometimes used to provide additional stimulation and increase blood flow.

The primary objectives are to enhance tissue extensibility, reduce pain by triggering the release of natural opioids within the body, and promote increased blood flow to damaged tissues, thereby accelerating the healing process.

Dry needling is effective in treating many illnesses, including:

  • migraines
  • muscle soreness
  • reduces pain by releasing the body’s natural pain killers such as oxytocin(hormone)
  • helps insomnia
  • reduces joint pain
  • helps to reduce back and neck pain
  • relieves digestive problems and more

Positive results are often seen after one treatment depending on the condition’s severity.  Usually, multiple treatments are recommended for the results.

Dr. Molina is certified through the American Academy of Manipulative Therapies. Dry needling is a technique that shares similarities with acupuncture, which involves placing needles along specific meridians to balance the patient’s “Chi” or life force, reduce stress, increase well-being, and alleviate pain. However, dry needling differs in several ways.

Dr. Alan Molina believes there is a place for chiropractic care supported by dry needling treatments for many patients.
